Ayesha Ayub

Ayesha Ayub is a Lahore-based, Pakistani artist. She is trained as a sculptor and recently got graduated from Punjab University College of Art and Design, Lahore. Ayub’s work revolves around her fantasy as she likes to live in her own world of imagination. Her imaginative world is also an escape, for her, from this real world. For isolating herself from people, Ayub developed a habit of baking from her childhood, and that’s what she portrays in her work. Baking brings the pleasure and calmness to her and along with it comes the feelings of nostalgia. Through her work she also makes a comment on how people nowadays aren’t ready to face the real challenges.
As she thinks due to the perfect world of social media everyone in today’s world is running away from the reality and just want to live in their fantasies and imaginative world, escaping all the harsh realities, of which she is also a part.

For her work, Ayub chose soap to work with. Imported soap was used for this series and she also tried to manage to make these sculptures smell like actual sweets. She didn’t only worked with the visual of sculpture but also with the fragrance.
